Tough Weekend
26 April 2005

In what can only be described as a tough weekend overall for the RBI racing team there where highlights that give the team continued hope for the upcoming events.

Lead driver Alan Rudolph set two of the quickest race times of the weekend in the ICC class in the Saturday pre final and final events. Unfortunately the veteran driver broke a spindle bolt while closing on the leader in the pre-final dropping him to the last starting position for the final. He came from the rear of the 27 kart field in the final to finish an impressive 8th. Sunday was a different story as the team forgot to tech Alan's motor after the prefinal dropping him again to the final starting spot for the final. He finished the final on Sunday 6th after a hard run through the field. Marc Elliot is the second driver for RBI team in the ICC class and had a steady weekend, though he also had a problem having to replace a radiator after a bracket failure let the radiator drop and a hose wore through. Marc finished the weekend with a 22nd on Saturday, and a 20th on Sunday.

The King Taco Junior 80 portion of the RBI team was led all weekend by Bellevue's own Cap Henry. The Flyin A Motorsports driver gained more valuable experience running with the west coast driver's on tracks he has never seen. He dropped his times through out the weekend by over 3 seconds per lap. The HMC Ltd. driver shined when the sun did not, posting some of the fastest times of the weekend during the wet sessions, and earning a mention on e-karting news for his efforts " RBI’s Cap Henry was good in the wet as he posted his best qualifying effort at a Stars event with the fifth quickest time in the session." Unfortunately the strong efforts were not enough as bad luck beset the driver during his actual races. On Saturday as they exited the hairpin in the back section some karts got together and Cap had to stand on the brakes, it was to late and this removed the nose from his Henry MotorSports Sponsored kart sending him to the sidelines with a Meatball black flag under International rules. Teammate Mitch Cobb had his best finish of the season coming home 10th. Sunday the team was upbeat and hopeful as the day started wet, and Cap Henry turned it up, on the wet track, setting some of the fastest wet laps in the 80 cc junior class and starting 5th in the pre final. In only what could be called a hero or zero move the team chose to stay on the rain tires for the pre-final along with 3 other racers, and unfortunately the rains did not return, and Cap and teammate Mitch Cobb quickly dropped to the rear of the field. The final faired no better for the pair as Mitch Cobb dropped a wheel off of turn 1 flattening his left rear tire, he retired early due to this. Laps For Kids Driver Cap Henry got a great start and jumped to 7th and it was looking good for the feature, though unfortunately a quick brake bias change before the start left the driver with no rear brakes, and he could not keep the pace needed to stay up front. He eventually spun in the corkscrew ending his day. Overall Cap Had a good weekend, though not the results the team had hoped for. The RBI teams next event will be Round 2 of the Snap On Stars Of Karting at Reno, Nevada June 3 -5 2005.

You may Catch Cap Henry in his next racing event possibly this weekend at Sandusky Speedway, or Kartington Raceway Park, it's early in the week, and only time will tell what the week brings.

Cap Henry starts the 2005 season off with a bang!
20 April 2005

The season started with the Snap On Stars, Race Of The Americas May 13-15, 2005 in Norman Oklahoma. The kick off of the season included drivers from the east, the west , and international drivers. On a track that can only be described as demanding from a drivers point of view Cap Henry completed his set goals for the weekend. Having set realistic goals of finishing with no crashes and not being lapped by the winners, or being last, Cap Henry achieved these goals. The team struggled slightly with qualifying with a rules glitch that only allowed them to run 5 laps, they were in the 17th spot of the 24 kart field. Cap had great starts all weekend and ran as high as 10th at times, he finished where he started in the 17th spot. This leaves the driver in the 7th position in the west coast series.

Upon returning home the young driver picked up where he left off from last fall winning the opening race at the reopened karting facilities at the Sandusky Speedway with a win on the oval in stock lights, on April 10th. This race as all opening events was rough to say the least. Cap Henry came home first after a long tough battle with fellow competitor D.J. Foos, both of whom get sponsorship from HMC Ltd. Internet. Team mate and engine builder Seth Schneider came home second, with D.J. slipping to third.

The HenryMotorSports Team then returned to it's Road Racing Roots for the American Cancer Society FUNd raising day at Fremont Raceway Park. Cap ran three classes on this day, coming home with a 1st in the McGee-Lien Racing Jr. Restricted Animal kart, over past racing rival Wyatt Harvey, with Rookie Gold Plate driver Zach Myers 3rd, and Cody Lien 4th.

Things did not fair quite as well in the Yamaha Super Can Class. This is the fast class run at Fremont Raceway Park on any given weekend, and Cap had the field covered the majority of the day. Unfortunately a bobbled start dropped the racer from first to third where he would finish the event behind Cleveland's Ron Daly, and Cody Lien.

The oval race again had the driver up front until feature time. The top three were having a lead swapping battle when Cap was tapped from behind spinning him out and a drop to the tail go the 6 kart field. Cap ran the kart back up to third and was closing on the leaders when the checkered flag dropped. After the race Cap pointed out that he had lost a brake line and finished the second half of the race with no brakes what so ever.

The official launch of the website is still a few days away, but for those who are already checking out the site, here are a few quick notes. Some of the pages are still in development, so expect some errors. None of the pages have been spell-checked yet, I'll proof everything before the launch.
