Local driver Cap Henry had a busy finish to 2005.
22 April 2006

picOn December 10 – 11th 2005, the driver was at the Bob Bondurant School in Phoenix, Arizona helping to establish the new Guinness World Record for the number of miles covered in a go-kart by a 4 man team in 24 hours. The previous record of 1062.5 miles that was established in 1997 was broken by over 500 miles by the team while raising funds for the Victory Junction Gang Camps in memory of driver Adam Petty, the son of Kyle Petty and Grandson of Richard Petty, 7 time NASCAR Winston Cup Champion. Donations may be made to the Victory Junction Gang Camps under Laps for Kids driver Cap Henry at (www.victoryjunction.org )

picOn December 26th, 2005 the driver was featured on the State Wide Radio Show The Last Lap with local hosts DC Bash and Brian Liskai discussing the 2005 Rumble Series, and his 2006 racing plans in the HMC Ltd. backed 305 Asphalt Sprint Car. December 28th – December 30th the Elite Collision sponsored driver was racing with Henry MotorSports teammate John Ivy at the Rumble in Ft. Wayne with their 600cc Winged Outlaw Midgets. Fremont Native John Ivy notched up 2 more Poles, and 2 more victories in the Schiets Motors sponsored car now winning the last 5 indoor 600 shows. 15 year old Cap Henry was not as successful as teammate Ivy, though made great progress and showed good speed through out the event, his racing luck was just not their this year. On Thursday the Bellevue Native qualified 5th out of the field of 25 and was running 1st in his heat race when the chain came off the Bellevue Fitness and Tanning backed machine.

The driver then proceeded to run third in his Consolation race to make the main event, only to have the chain come off again during the feature event. Friday was a new day and the team had high hopes for the young driver as he went out and qualified 2nd quick to teammate Ivy. The Pizza House West driver was leading his heat race, when he clipped the turn two inside tire wall sending the car down the back straight ending his second hopes of a heat race win this year. There were no consolation races the second day as only 18 cars were left of the original 25 from Thursday. Again bad luck struck the driver as his teammate went on to win, as the car overheated during the feature. It appears things may slow down for the next month or two as the driver and team prepares for the 2006 racing season at Sandusky Speedway. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and more information can be had at www.caphenryracing.com.
