Weekend Update
31 May 2005

picThe Henry MotorSports Team can see the light at the end of the tunnel as it is getting brighter. With the help of 410 Sprint Car driver Craig Mintz, the team came close to a heat race win this past week at the speedrome. 14 year old Cap Henry started on the pole for his heat race and shot out to a 5 car lead on the green flag. He continued to run a strong pace leading the first laps. Unfortunately this first victory was dashed when the car popped out of gear on the front straight on lap 7 of 10, ending the drivers heat race.

The team re grouped and prepared for the 50 lap feature. Unfortunately due to be unable to hear the P.A. System from their pit spot Cap and two other drivers were regulated to the tail of the field due to being late for the grid. This did not seem to effect the third generation driver as he quickly moved his way through the field from 15th to 7th position. He was then spun from behind coming out of turn two dropping him back to the tail of the field. The HMC Ltd. sponsored driver again began to work his way forward in the G-Force backed car moving into 8th position. As the car began to smoke in the turns Cap became aware of the smell and decided he better park the car in the infield to race another day. The Flying A Motorsports driver finished 11th overall, though the team believes the Winners circle will be coming yet this summer. It appears this DNF was caused by an overfilling the car with oil during the oil change at the shop this past week. Cap will be off this week June 2 - 5, 2005 to join the Stars Of Karting Series in Reno, Nevada with the RBI team.

Weekend Results
19 May 2005

Cap Henry debuted his Kenyon Midget car Thursday May 12th in what was a less than spectacular beginning for the new venue of racing for the 14 year old driver from Bellevue, Ohio. The team arrived late for the event, giving them time for only one practice, one heat race and the 50 lap feature. The practice gave Cap just enough time to become re introduced to the car that he had not driven since the fall of 2004, and then it was into the heat race. Due to an error by registration he was thrown into the heat race with this years winners, and last year's champion. He started at the tail of the field where he stayed through out the event, it took him most of the heat race to get back up to speed, and he kept the distance from the leader fairly even at about 1/2 the track for the last 5 laps, a good sign going into the feature 50 lap main event.Starting the feature from the tail is never the way to begin any feature, though some one has to, and this time it was Cap. As the green flag flew, so did young Mr. Henry, as he began to move toward the front of the field for the first couple laps. He started to work the outside of one of the drivers for two laps in a row coming down the front straight, unfortunately the other driver tried to take the same track position, putting Cap hard into the front wall, ending his evening as he limped into the infield with a damaged car. The damage was severe enough that the team will have to miss a week of racing while the car is repaired.

After leaving Blossom, Indiana and the Speedrome, the team ventured north to begin testing karts for the Laps For Kids Organizations, Run at the record, and unprecedented goal of raising one million dollar for goods and services for the Victory Junction gang camps. (See www.lapsforkids.com). Though the team struggled some at the 1.8 mile road course known as Gingerman, in South Haven Michigan the team did gather a lot of useful information for the run at the record. Team Leader Gary Kannageiser finished toward the back of the pack on Saturday as the team had to send him out in a back up kart, as the Comp Cor Tony Karts were being re geared for the Sunday event. Cap Henry managed a 4th place finish in Jr. Tag on Saturday in a red flag shortened event. Sunday the team made further strides though the gearing was still not what the team needed to be as competitive as they would have liked, both karts did finish the event with Gary coming in 3rd in Tag Masters, and Cap Henry coming home 6th in Tag Jr. More information on Mr. Henry and sponsorship opportunities are available at his web site @ www.caphenryracing.com

Cap will be returning to the seat of the Kenyon Car Thursday before the Indy 500 at the Speedrome in Blossom Indiana. Locally he may run Sunday at Fremont Raceway Park in Fremont, Ohio.

This Friday they travel to Gingerman Raceway in South Haven Michigan to race with the Championship Enduro Series in his RBI Yamaha 100. There is a strong probability that he will be returning to the SKUSA ranks this weekend in a kart from the Laps For Kids Foundation at the same event.

Cap Henry Rolls Locally!
7 May 2005

Cap Henry Returns to the winners circle at Sandusky Speedway. What a difference a week makes. In what can only be described as a much less hurried race pace with only one kart to work on, Cap showed his skills again on the oval at Sandusky Speedway. The young driver and his team mate Seth Schneider covered the field pretty well. Cap finished 2nd and 4th in his heat races to start the feature in the third starting position. With his Zone Chassis he got a good start and he moved into the inside going into the turn One, as the leader slid up exiting Turn two Cap took the lead and never looked back in the one caution flag race. Team mate Seth Schneider came from the rear of the field after being taken out in one of his heat races, to take over second place at about the 1/2 way point. The Schneider built engined team never looked back as they took positions one and two in the Stock lights feature.
Stan Schneider returned to the seat this evening in a third Zone Chassis to take a second in Super Heavies to winner Paul Thrash.

Zone chassis's have now won all three feature events on the asphalt at Sandusky Speedway in Stock Lights with Schneider Built Engines, and Henry MotorSports Backing. Keep em Rolling,  Scott "In The Zone" Lute.
