Round 5 from Down Under

Round 5“American Teenager Cap Henry” as he is referred to in the press writings from Australia is gaining valuable experience as he progresses in his racing down under. November 21 first found 32 of Australia’s best gathered at Brisbane Speedway for the opening round of the World Series of Sprint Cars in Australia, often compared to the United States, World of Outlaws or All-Star Series. Unfortunately 19 year old Cap Henry had to battle uphill all night as he was the first qualifier on a greasy track and turned in the 31st time relegating him outside the 30 car inversion. He would be starting at the back all night.

Heat one found the youngster on the move as he started last in 11th position and ran up to 6th passing and holding off quick qualifier and 2nd place A main finisher Max Dumesny.

His second heat would not be as strong as the results show that none of the cars made much progress starting 11th again he spun early bringing out the caution. He recovered from his spin to run to 9th following eventual A main winner Brooke Tatenall to the checkers.

The B Main would be another story as he and team mate Matt Butler would start from the tail of the fields in 17th and 18th position, Cap said after the 2nd heat race he made the decisions of what he wanted to changed for the B main and it paid off handsomely as he ran from the back of the field to a 5th place finish racing the transfer car across the line.

Though he didn’t make the show he gained a lot of valuable experience in setting his car up, which should help him for his last few race in Australia and when he returns to the states, His team mate Matt Butler came home 8th in the B main.

His first race back in the United State will be the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in early January 2010, Again we’d like to Thank the people in Australia that are making this all possible, Auto Tech, Trail A Van, Butler Fabrication, and Bob Cats Today.

Night Number Four...

for 19 year old Cap Henry turned out to be a frustrating learning experience at Maryborough Speedway. After a horrific crash the week before, the team built a new car for Cap and headed to a track he had never seen. He reported that the track it’s self was smooth though very sandy and he struggled with trying to get proper grip all night. He qualified 19th out of 25 cars which gave him a second place starting spot in his first heat though he did not finish. His second heat had him starting on the pole though he slipped back to 4th position. The B main found the young driver starting deep in the field of 12 in the 10th position. He was able to move up to 9th though made no further progress relegating him to the trailer for the rest of the evening; it appears from the results that he B-main field changed positions just slightly indicating that almost nobody had really gotten it worked out. Teammate Matt Butler did make the A-main starting in the starting 12th and finishing 13th.  So congratulations to that portion of the team, and a special Thanks to Trail A Van, and Bob Cat‘s Today for making this all possible.

Cap's recent wreck from Brisbane Speedway.in Australia, He walks away unscathed though a little sore a few days later. This is one of the worst sprint car wrecks I have seen in a long time. It appears it is just a racing incident where Cap bounces in the ruts up the track while the other driver is coming down the speedway.

They have begun rebuilding a car for him and he hopes to be back in action this coming weekend, November 14th.

Again Thank You to all our sponsors that make this possible, and watch for exciting news coming soon about next year.

Down Under19 year old Cap Henry ended night three of his racing down under upside down

Cap states the track this week was worst than last week, though he still qualified very well in the 10th position.
While running in a 4th position in Heat #1 he was collected and tore the front end out of the car.
Repairs were made and he started 6th in the B-main
He was running 4th when disaster struck for the second time and a car came off the bottom and collected him sending him end over end down the back straight collecting his teammate Matt Butler in the end I was told.

He reports being OK though the car damages will not be toatally assessed until they get back to the shop, he reported that when they flipped him back over oil hit the headers and he scrambled due to either smoke or fire not sure which yet, though he said he baled in a hurry.

So unfortunately night three ends in disaster for Cap, more information as soon as he postes or calls me.
Thank You all for your continued support of Team CHR.

19 year old Cap Henry is in Australia for what we are calling his fall term of college, racing sprint cars with the Butler Brothers that were here this summer and purchased a lot of our used equipment.
His second race in Australia found the multiple time 410 Rookie Of The Year Making the show from his heat races. He started 2 nd his first heat to finish 6th with a car that he described as to tight to drive. The second heat proved much better as he started 8th and ran it to second place, putting him into the A-main event.
Starting 12th in the A-main event the young man made quick work of a couple of the cars to move into the top 10. He then proceeded to work his way up to 7th position. In what he reports as the roughest track he has ever run on. He was able to find a smooth line through turns three and four though ran out of time to pass the 6th place car.
After looking at the results on the Aussie sprint car web site it appears he was the only car in the field to pass numerous cars during the A main event.

He will be racing the next few weekends at various tracks around western Australia

In other news from the Team CHR the team is working very hard to put together a package that will allow Cap Henry a run at the Allstar Rookie of the Year Honors, We hope we can count on all of our current sponsors to retun as we look at running the AllStars in 2010. You should be hearing from us soon, and as always we Thank You for what you have done for us !
