A daunting nine races in fourteen days!
August
20, 2010
Just over a week ago, Team CHR headed home for the first time in two weeks to catch a break while finishing up a run “out west” for the All Star Circuit of Champions “Thunder Through the Plains” leg of the summer schedule…a daunting nine races in fourteen days!
The job is never an easy one for the youngster just a year out of high school battling the best winged sprinters in the land…but he’s always up to the challenge. “I have learned so much this summer by working on the car, doing set-ups and figuring out all of the little “things” it takes to make the car run well”, said Henry from the hauler on the way to Bloomington (Indiana) Speedway. “I think we’re having a pretty decent year all things considered with the hectic schedule and just trying to run strong every night against guys I have always dreamed of running with…”
Cap moved back into fourth in overall series points and has increased his “Rookie of the Year” title hopes to now lead by well over 460 markers. With an eye on finishing in the Top 3 his first season on the “All Star Circuit of Champions” plus an attempt to capture the “Rookie of the Year” title will be an incredible accomplishment for the small family-owned team from northern Ohio.
With the All Stars having a rare couple of weeks off, the team heads to two of the best dirt tracks in the Midwest by running at Bloomington and Twin Cities this weekend as they will “hang out” with the Midwest All Stars.
Summer heat and the mileage attempting to take its toll on the team
August 6, 2010
Ten days ago, Team CHR headed west for the All Star Circuit of Champions “Thunder Through the Plains” leg of the summer schedule…a daunting nines races in fourteen days! With the summer heat and the mileage attempting to take its toll on the team, Cap Henry scores his best night of the season last night (Thursday).
For Henry, who had struggled somewhat during the “Thunder Through the Plains”, it was his second runner-up finish with the All Stars in 2010, the other coming during the season’s opening races in Florida. His second place run is even more impressive considering he had never competed on the Belleville High Banks.
“It’s pretty cool here. Honestly, it’s kind of boring to drive…you’re just barely bumping the wheel, but I like it, it treated us pretty good tonight,” said Henry beside his TNT Graphics, Kistler Racing Products, Bell Racing, G-Force Race Gear backed #04. “We were good right out of the trailer, setting quick time, winning our heat and running second in the dash. A.J. Havens helped me out a little bit. Unfortunately on that last restart if the lapped car would have moved over maybe we would have had a better shot at Shaffer.”
“I really have to thank Cody Lean and Mitch Chapman…that’s the only crew I’ve got out here. I have to thank my dad (Kit) and the family…they’re doing an awesome job,” he added.
Cap moves back into fourth in overall series points and has increased his “Rookie of the Year” title hopes to now lead by well over 460 markers.

Cap Henry Preps for "Thundering Though The Plains".9 Races in 14 Days!
July 30, 2010
The last few weeks for Team CHR and Cap Henry have been those of reflection, re-evaluation and regrouping as the team has ridden the rollercoaster all summer long. Through all of the highs and lows, young Henry remains focused and is ready to “thunder through the plains” these next two weeks.
The All Star Sprint Car Circuit of Champions attempts to evade the summer heat by heading to the northern plains but it sounds like the only thing cool about it will be to bring home some heavy metal and maybe even fire a few rounds into the series championship stretch. With nine races in fourteen days, the team will run against some of the best winged sprinters in the badlands as Cap has already found out in night number one last evening.
Qualifying 20th out of the 28 cars in the pit area, Cap ended the night earlier than expected and finished 27th and lost a little ground on his rookie points lead. Regardless, after battling Tony Stewart and Donny Schatz plus the All Star regulars, the kid is reloading the guns for tonight’s second round.
“I’m really fired up about this whole stretch of races,” said Henry after doing some last minute tweaks to prep the car. “I’ve spent a number of hours working on the car and I feel like I really have a good handle on what we are capable of….and running this many races in a short amount of time really rocks!”
Cap remains fifth in overall series points and holds a 330+ point lead for the Rookie of the Year title.
Rebounds...
July 3, 2010
After a costly 2010 Ohio Sprint Week, Team CHR hopes to rebound tonight on the high banks at KC Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio as the “All-Star Circuit of Champions” returns to a “normal schedule”.
Bellevue, Ohio’s Cap Henry and Team CHR made all nine “A” Main features in sprint week but nearly destroyed two cars in doing so, both incidents thanks to “aggressive driving by other drivers”. Last Saturday night, Cap was taken to a local hospital after flipping violently during the feature but was released with a few “stars orbiting his noggin”.
“Even after last week, I’m really excited because this is the first time have built a car myself,” said Henry, holding onto 4th place in the All Star point standings. “I’m pretty confident as I just finished the final measurements and it all looks really good!”
The All Stars will be busy in July as they kick-off four races in a five day span on Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10 at West Virginia Motor Speedway.
9 Races, 9 Tracks, 9 Straight Nights.
June 25, 2010
The 2010 Ohio Sprint Week is “9 Races on 9 Different Tracks in 9 Straight Nights”. Not only does each race pay a minimum of $5,000.00 to win ($10,000 for Saturday night’s finale), it draws the best local winged sprinters from Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana PLUS the typical “All-Star Circuit of Champions” regulars.
Bellevue, Ohio’s Cap Henry and Team CHR have made every “A” Main feature so far after getting completely shut out in 2009. With an average car count of 39 each night, the aggressive youngster has two Top 15 finishes while battling for respect. Racing into the feature every night has been the biggest highlight of the week after struggling during qualifying. Moving forward isn’t the problem…it’s getting around the more experienced veterans who continue to take him for granted.
Following a nasty crash on Thursday, Team CHR is thrashing to make the last two shows this weekend. “We are very happy with our performance this year….making every race (in Ohio Sprint Week) is huge for us and a tribute to what this team has accomplished since last summer….we just seem to struggle once we finally make the feature, “said team owner and Cap’s father, Kit Henry.
Heading into the 8th race on Friday night at Limaland Motorsports Park, Cap stands 4th overall in the 2010 All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car standings, less than 100 points out of third as well as leading the Rookie points by over three hundred…

Thousands of miles and long days.
June 18, 2010
Winged Sprint car driver Cap Henry and Team CHR returned home earlier this week following a ten day stretch taking them through the East Coast as well as Canada. The thousands of miles and long days proved fruitful as Henry has inched his way into 3rd overall in the “All-Star Circuit of Champions” points chase while increasing his “Rookie-of-the-Year” lead to 158 markers.
Running with some of the best winged sprinters in the U.S. has given the 19-year-old tremendous experience competing with the World of Outlaws and local hometown track standouts as well as the All-Stars regulars. In the last two weeks, Team CHR has grabbed a Top 10 and three Top 15 finishes plus his first Pole and even a 2nd fastest qualifier, proving he can run with the best of ‘em!
Tonight, the team returns to familiar turf as “Ohio Speedweek” launches an exhausting “9 races in 9 straight days” schedule. The Attica Speedway hosts the opener tonight and is one-half of the F.A.S.T. series tracks where Henry won three “Rookie-of-the-Year” titles in 2009 (both individual tracks and series R.O.Y. trophies).
Hoping to have a great “Ohio Speedweek”, Cap knows each of the tracks and is looking forward to running strong in front of his Buckeye fans.
“It’s great to return to all of those tracks where we have a lot of laps and experience” Cap said. “And seeing our Ohio fans and friends will help to pump us up, too!”
Returning to the "home" track.
May 28, 2010
Just a weekend ago, Cap Henry returned to one of his “home” tracks where he has been cutting his teeth in sprint cars the last few years. Rolling off the trailer was a brand new JEI chassis and even though he struggled with an underpowered motor during qualifying, he still managed 3rd quick!
The 19-year old knows his way around the KC Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio and even though the Top 6 are automatically locked into the “A” Main, you must still run a “dash” to determine the Top 6 starting spots. Cap started 4th and finished 5th as he continued to struggle with motor problems. Meanwhile, the Team CHR crew continued to thrash on the car, finally getting it to run for the first feature. This time starting 5th, he worked his way into 4th spot before running into lapped traffic, settling for 6th.
For the second feature, they inverted the finishing order giving young Henry a 15th starting slot. After the pole car caused a first corner mishap, Cap would get upside down going into to Turn 1 trying to miss the madness. Even though the car had very minor damage, he would restart at the tail and make his way to 14th.
Memorial weekend proves to be a busy one as the team returns to another “home” track at Fremont Speedway with another “All Star Race of Champions” date on Saturday and a local show on Sunday evening…

The All-Star Circuit of Champions Rookie-of-the Year Contender
May 7, 2010
The “All-Star Circuit of Champions Rookie-of-the-Year Contender” Cap Henry, finishes off a slow month of April with a trip to the “Posse” land and begins May with a Heat Race win and a strong “A-Main” finish in Pennsylvania.
Thanks to a condescending “Mother Nature”, the team had mediocre results but on April 10th, they were home in their own backyard at Attica Speedway with high hopes for a great homecoming run. The car was strong right off the trailer as Cap laid down the 7th fastest qualifying time out of the 45 cars attempting to make the 20 car starting field. Team CHR had a strong heat race finishing 3rd securing a spot in the A-Main. Here unfortunately is where things changed. Starting 5th, the team had hoped to come home with a Top 5 finish. With numerous caution flags, hopes turned into a harsh a reality. As Cap would go to restart, his sprinter babbled being out of fuel and he headed for the inside of the track, only to be collected by another car as the green flag fell. Officials deemed it necessary to re-fuel the rest of the field at this point though the damage had already been done to the car. Team CHR would finish the night in 17th spot which would increase the lead in the 2010 Rookie-of-the-Year quest while placing 4th overall in the All-Stars rankings.
The next stops on the tour would be in the infamous land of the “P.A. Posse” at Williams Grove (April 30th), Lincoln Speedway (May 1st) and winding up at Big Diamond on May 2nd. Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedway are home turf to the posse and even the World of Outlaws drivers have difficulty making the shows, let alone winning! And only two All-Stars have done it since the 70’s. Williams Grove was everything the team thought it was going to be and they went in with the idea of getting out in one piece while gaining valuable experience and that is exactly what they did. Qualifying 37th out of 43 on the big ½ mile led to an 18th finish in the “B-Main”. “I gained a month’s worth of experience in one night!” beamed Henry. Team CHR would move on while holding on the “R-O-Y” Lead and slipping one position to 5th place overall heading to the 3/8 mile Lincoln Speedway. Again, the team remained cautious as they knew the red clay track was fast and not a place to make mistakes. Cap would open eyes in a hurry as he threw down one of the 10 fastest practice laps before qualifying 14th out of the 39 cars, just a few thousandths of second from the top 10. The heat race was even better as Cap came out of the 3rd starting position and following a quick restart, would take the point as the green flag dropped. Looking back at the likes of Stevie Smith and the other regulars, he would win the heat race by over 4 seconds at the checkered while advancing to the main event. The “A-Main” would be the hindrance to a perfect first run at Lincoln as a missed setup caused Cap to struggle at trying to run fast while staying out of the way of the leaders. Finishing 23rd after starting 12th left Team CHR feeling pretty ecstatic as a true rookie has not come into Lincoln Speedway with the All-Stars and put on that kind of a show.
Sunday’s Big Diamond race would be rained out so the team headed back to the shop to prepare for a test night at Lernerville with two nights at Port Royal this weekend for another trek back to “Posse” land…

From Despair to Redemption in 48 hours
March 23, 2008
After finishing a career high second last month at East Bay, 19-year old Cap Henry went into the “All-Star Circuit of Champions” series weekend at Volunteer Speedway in Bull’s Gap, Tennessee with a helmet full of confidence.
Cap and Team CHR would battle the “best of the best in the sprint car world” as the All-Stars were co-sanctioned with the World of Outlaws. Lead by Crew Chief A.J. Havens, the team posted a respectable 22nd fastest qualifying time ahead of the likes of Outlaws regulars Kinser, Kaeding, McCarl and others in the 38 car field. The positive run on Friday would come to an abrupt halt on lap one of his heat race as Cap jumped right into an “A-Main” transfer spot only to have it end with a punt from a fellow competitor sending him end-over-end from turn 2 halfway down the back straight, destroying the primary car and ending day one.
The small crew was determined to redeem themselves for Saturday night and sent the sore, though otherwise OK, driver to the hauler for some much needed rest. A.J Havens, Mike Bishop and Cody Lien would work into the wee hours of the morning preparing the back up car. After a couple hours of sleep and with the help of the CH Motorsports crew, the car was ready for day two. Determined to prove he could race at this level, young Henry would qualify 20th out of 34 cars, only a blip of the throttle from making the invert in a very tight field. Cap would be relegated to the “B-Main” after running in the transfer spot for the majority of his heat race. The “B-Main” would find him on fire as he would jump out to the lead over Rob Chaney until a slide job coming out of Turn 2. Chaney and Henry would pull away from the field finishing 1-2 and putting Cap into his first ever World of Outlaws “A-Main” in only his third event.
Starting 20th in the “A-Main”, Cap began rapidly working through the field, getting up to 12th until the first series of cautions. He stayed his position for the majority of the race and began to make a late charge before his tires would go away, slipping back to 15th. His first WoO feature would still keep him in the Top 10 in points with the “All-Star Circuit of Champions” for yet another week while padding a 108-point lead in the “Rookie Of The Year” standings.
This week, the team heads back to familiar territory to race at the Attica Speedway season opener on March 26th.

A.J. Havens and Keith Whaley Promoted by Team CHR and Driver Cap Henry!
February 28, 2010
A.J. Havens and Keith Whaley Promoted by Team CHR and Driver Cap Henry!
Hot off the Florida leg of their 2010 All Star Circuit of Champions season, Team CHR announced two key upgrades with a promotion and personnel addition.
Chad Kemenah’s former World of Outlaws and All-Stars crew chief, A.J. Havens, has been added to call the shots for Cap Henry’s run for the All Stars Championship as well as his bid for the Rookie Of The Year title. Additionally, Havens will work with Mark and Keith Whaley to help oversee Brian Smith’s Gressman Powersports backed #02 car running for the F.A.S.T. Championship.
Keith Whaley, who has been with the team just over 5 years, has helped propel driver Cap Henry to five (5) “Rookie-Of-The-Year” titles in the last two seasons. Whaley has been promoted to Shop Foreman and will add numerous crew duties at the track as well driving the rig that will transport the #04 winged sprint car.
The team also welcomes the addition of its newest crew member, Karlee Jean Havens, born 2/18/2010 and weighing in at 6 lbs, 14 oz. Congratulations to Sheyanne and A.J.!

Cap Henry startyed 10th last night in the Allstar race at East Bay and finished 2nd, and awesome run for the young man. He was 12th quick in qualifying out of 32 cars.
Nights 3 & 4
February 5th, 2010
Night 3 is in the books and Team CHR is in the trailer with a car in one piece and some strong experience for Cap and the team. Though the night was not what everyone had hoped for, Cap showed he is getting very close to holding his own with the top level in the sprint car world. An early pill draw may have hurt the team as the track seemed to get faster and faster as qualifying went on. Cap turned in a time of 13.6, just a tick off the majority of the World Of Outlaw and All Star drivers that were primarily in the 13.5’s with a few quicker yet. Team CHR qualified 29th out of the 41 drivers making attempts, putting them deep in heat 1. Starting 8th Cap would need to finish 5th to make the A-main.
The start indicated he may be able to do this as he thundered down the outside picking up 2 positions on the front straight only to find he was not going to be given room to move down going into turn one, and he had to lift dropping him back into his starting position.
Again he made a run on the cars in front of him only to find he had to back off a second time for slower cars and drifting high losing his momentum a second time. At this point the front 5 had pulled far enough a way that only a yellow would give the 19 year old a chance to get a shot at a transfer position, and it unfortunately didn’t come, He would finish 7th in the heat race.
The B-main would not prove to be any better for the Rookie of the Year contender as he was starting deep in the field in 12th position with the likes of 1) 17-Daryn Pittman 2) 6-Danny Lasoski 3) 30C-Lance Dewease 4) 49-Brad Sweet 5) 22-Greg Hodnett 6) 1J-Bronson Maeshen 7) 7M-Mark Smith 8) W20-Greg Wilson 9) 13-Paul McMahan 10) 22E-Brian Ellenberger all finishing in front of him.
Night 4 would find a track the exact opposite of night 3 with the track now being dry slick, and having a very high cushion. Not as fast as night three on the clocks, though probably much harder to drive as the cars were loose and rear grip would prove to be an eventual issue, with 5 to 6 cars destroying right rear tires in the A-main event. Cap would draw the number 13 pill for qualifying, though a bobble on his part going into turn 1 on his only qualifying lap would pretty much end the evening for Team CHR, as the 38 qualifying time out of 41 would put the team at the back of the pack all night.
Cap’s second night at Volusia would become a character builder and learning experience for the young driver as he would find the ½ mile a tough track to tame in only his second appearance with his heat race finishing as follows: 1) 9-Joey Saldana 2) 3C-Cale Conley 3) R19-Jac Haudenschild 4) 15H-Sam Hafertepe Jr. 5) 49-Brad Sweet 6) 30C-Lance Dewease 7) 11K-Kraig Kinser 8) 51-Fred Rahmer 9) 89G-David Gravel 10) O4-Cap Henry III . The B-main would be no less challenging as the B-main could have been an All-Star or World of Outlaws A-main on any given night. What Team CHR did see with a change in set up was a determined driver that started very fast, and was chop blocked, dropped back and then lunged back forward passing 3or 4 cars before he looped it out in turn 1 being collected by the car that had blocked him earlier. Overall the team was satisfied as they were able to learn a lot from the event from driver down through the crew.
The team does leave Volusia Speedway stretching the long Rookie of the Year points battle out to approximately 47 points unofficially as we head to 3 nights at East Bay.

Night 1 & 2
February 4, 2010
Cap Henry put in a solid performance with the All-Star Circuit of
Champions on Night #1 at Ocala Speedway last Friday. The 19 year old Bellevue, Ohio native will take on the best in the sprint car business during his Rookie season with the All-Stars and proved he was up to the task.
Cap qualified 23rd out of the 30 drivers in attendance with many from
the World Of Outlaws circuit. The qualifying time would help Cap make the A-main directly from his heat as he had the pole position of heat race #3 with the top 5 automatically transferring to the main event.
Thanks to some ruts between turns 1 & 2, Cap settled for the third spot
transfer into the "A" main.
Florida Crew Chief A.J. Havens gave Cap the best advice by telling him
to take it easy in turn one with an expected "first race, first turn
accident".and there was. Starting 22nd, he steared clear as veterans
Dean Jacobs, Lance Dewease, and Bill Rose watched from the sidelines since they did not make the final.
As the race finally began, Cap was able to settle in to a strong pace
and hold his own, coming home 19th. With fellow rookie Jarrod Ridge not making the show, he leaves Ocala with an initial lead in the "Rookie of the Year" Honors although there is a very long season ahead.
The second night at Ocala was rained out and the team moves to Volusia Speedway for nights 3 & 4. The rain is finally clearing allowing for
racing tonight and Thursday so stay tuned!

All Star Circut of Champions
January 29, 2010
This weekend, RFR Driver Cap Henry is ready to step into the seat as he makes his Rookie season debut in the "All Star Circuit of Champions". The winged sprint car series starts tonight in Florida at the Ocala Speedway with a back-to-back Friday/Saturday night kick-off.
Henry graduated high school last spring and won three "Rookie-of-the-Year" titles in 2009 as he won the F.A.S.T. Series, Fremont Speedway and Attica Speedway honors. Team CHR returned to the Chili Bowl a couple of weeks ago but was frustrated all weekend by various mechanical problems.
"Regardless of what he deals with, the kid just keeps applying the pressure to whoever is in front of him", says team owner and proud father, Kit Henry. "Practice went well on Wednesday and we were able to turn competitive times against some of the best in the business."

Trial and Error
January 15, 2010
Well we wish we had good news to report though we don't. They say this place is 90 % luck and 10% everything else, and unfortunately we didn't have the 90%.
The heat race started with Cap in 4th position, though he bobbled on the start and then got hit on the first lap, and the car died, re firing as he rolled through the cushion. This dropped him to 8th and he worked his way back to 6th.
The C-main he started on the outside pole and took the lead on about lap 3. Smooth sailing we had hoped, though something got stuck in the throttle linkage causing him to have a sticking throttle. He bounced it off the wall twice and then a yellow came out. He went to the work area and The Team CHR crew unlodged what ever it may have been, though at this point the car had lost it's barked he did manage to come back up to approx. 7th with no brakes.
Our dedicated volunteer crew is now hard at work making repairs so that we can return for the alphabet soup on Saturday.
Starting Position

Cap Henry will be starting in the 4th position in heat 7 tonight at the 24th annual chilibowl
Safe Arrival
January 14, 2010
Cap Henry and Team CHR arrived safely at the Chili Bowl this year in what was a very mundane, trip vs. last years break downs. The first day of practice went well and it appears that the rebuilt Hampshire Midget motor has plenty of power, other than that not a lot was learned, as we were the first and last sessions out on that day, so the track was not real conducive to learning a lot.
Russ Bohaty, Kasey Kahnes trainer came by and worked Cap out yesterday, and came back again today to give him a pep talk.
Today is our race day and we feel we are ready to go. The team has finished the car prep and now we just sit and wait until we hit the track. Unfortunately we have no control over what night we run and tonight is a strong night, as Sammy Swindell, Cruz Pendegron, Jesse Hockett, and other big names mix it up with us. As Cap says and he is right they put there suit on the same way I do.
Chili Bowl 2010
January 13, 2010
Cap Henry and Team CHR are at the 24th annual Chili Bowl the week of January 10th thru the 16th, 2010. The team had much greater success in getting to the track this year with no break downs. Cap hit the track on session 1 and session 52 on practice day and ran times that were consistent with the majority of the field. He was the only one to make any passes during his first session. The just freshened Hampshire Midget motor seems to have plenty of power this year, and the team looks forward there first race day on Thursday.
